If you saw a glamorous woman cruising along Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s foremost highway in a sleek Jaguar XJ in March, it was most likely Anna-Maria Anesti, an outstanding student at Hult International Business School’s campus in the city.
Robin Colgan, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Middle East North Africa and Pakistan, offered an unusual prize to persuade Hult students to move their studies up a gear. It was the chance to drive one of these coveted luxury cars for a week, given to whoever scored the highest marks in the Hult MBA’s core marketing course in Dubai.
Robin kept to his word, and handed Anna-Maria the keys on March 5.
Anna-Maria, a full-time MBA student from Greece, proved that Hult students don’t need to arrive here as marketing experts to excel in the discipline, if they have the right combination of natural flair and a determination to apply their incisive minds to it.
Naturally, students have to be pretty clever too, to beat Hult colleagues to the top spot. Anna-Maria has a PhD in Molecular Pathology and a background in medical research and genetic engineering – though she relaxes with some scuba diving and yoga, and by indulging in her lifelong fascination with languages.
The race to win the highest marks and the key to the purring engine of the new Jaguar XJ culminated in an extraordinarily close finish. The runner-up was Johannes Seima, a part-time MBA student from South Africa. He’s an engineer with a background in mining, oil and gas, and an avid snowboarder and reader.
Jaguar congratulated the two students, and welcomed Anna-Maria as a Jaguar driver for a week.
