Master degree students from Hult London recently won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Camden Business Awards in London for their start-up business Schools4Future.
The awards celebrate the contribution that businesses make to the local economy and community. They are led by the Camden Council in partnership with the Camden Business Board, which represents the leading business organizations in the London borough.
Schools4Future was an idea born out of the Hult Prize, a global competition supported by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and the Global Clinton Initiative. The team of students included: Nicholas Marshall, Renee Vansevenant, Alexandre Tricoire, Pablo Lluch Castells and Michele Bianchi.
Their company seeks to address the lack of early childhood education in urban Indian slums. They have successfully made connections in India, launching a crowd-source funding platform and are building partnerships with organizations to bring the idea to fruition.
Currently, they have support from Unicef, Akshara Foundation, PwC, Sampark Foundation and the Clinton Initiative, but that’s only the beginning.
Renee Vansevenant, Master of Finance student and Vice Chairwoman/Chief Financial Officer, represented the team at the award ceremony and said:
“It is great to be able to accept this award on behalf of the team. It has been an incredible journey for us. Hult has provided us with the opportunity to start our own company off the back of the Hult Prize, a social enterprise that will change lives.
Hult really does equip students with practical learning that works in the real business world – we are keen to develop our business further and are grateful to everyone who has helped us on the way, including our Professors and mentors at the school.”
Councillor Phil Jones, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Transport & Planning from Camden Council said:
“Our young entrepreneurs are the life-blood of our future economy and we hope that the awards will inspire and encourage all of this year’s nominees to reach new heights of business success.”
