Climate action in teaching and operations

The FT Global MBA ranking highlights climate action progress via its environmental, social and governance (ESG) and Net Zero and Carbon Footprint criteria. Hult is especially proud to have achieved high rankings as compared to peer schools in these categories:

  • The ESG and Net Zero rank notes the proportion of teaching hours from core courses dedicated to ESG topics, as well as number of hours spent on teaching the ways that organizations and companies can reach net zero. Criteria also includes evaluation of the school’s ESG teaching by alumni. Hult ranks #5 globally in this category.
  • The Carbon Footprint rank acknowledges a school’s net zero target for carbon emissions and Scope 3 emissions. Hult ranks #23 globally in this category.

“Hult has worked since its founding to integrate across its curriculum a focus on the skills and capabilities to navigate environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues,” said Matthew Gitsham, Professor of Business and Sustainable Development at Hult and Academic Director of Hult’s Sustainability Research Impact Lab. “We support our faculty to bring relevant ESG and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging topics into the classroom and assessment for all courses. Business challenges with an ESG focus are also embedded across our curriculum.”

Gitsham added, “We are proud of our achievements but also view this as a matter of continuous improvement, the task is never completed! Every year we support our faculty to develop new learning materials and share best practice with each other.”
